Membership in CAWQ

The CAWQ welcomes membership applications from all persons in industry, academia, governmental and non-governmental organizations, public service, community groups, professional societies, and the general public, including private firms, who have an interest in water issues. The following types of membership are available:

Individual Members - Individuals who possess knowledge of or interest in water quality or the control or treatment of water contamination may become individual members of CAWQ. Individual members receive the Water Quality Research Journal of Canada (WQRJC) published 4 times per year or have the option of online access only to WQRJC at a reduced rate. In addition, they will have reduced fees at CAWQ symposia as well as notice of events of interest to the water community.

A person who is retired may also join CAWQ as an individual member for a fee that is lower than the regular individual membership fee. Retired individual members will have access to the WQRJC online only. In addition, they will have reduced fees at CAWQ symposia and receive notice of events of interest to the water community.
Student Members - Individuals who are in full time attendance at a college or university engaged in a study program related to water quality or the control or treatment of water contamination may become student members of CAWQ. Student members receive online access to the Water Quality Research Journal of Canada published 4 times per year. In addition, they will have reduced fees at CAWQ symposia as well as receive notice of events of interest to the water community.
Corporate Members - Private organizations that are actively engaged in research, consulting, or implementation of water-related issues or systems. A corporate member receives Water Quality Research Journal of Canada and listing as a corporate sponsor in the journal and on the CAWQ website. In addition, a corporate member is given priority to exhibit at the CAWQ's annual Central Symposium.
Sustaining Members - Any organization or individual may elect to become a sustaining member of CAWQ. Benefits of sustaining member status include posting the organization's logo and listing it as a sustaining member on the CAWQ website and in the Water Quality Research Journal of Canada (WQRJC) and their logo will be displayed at CAWQ conferences. Sustaining members receive WQRJC (4 issues per year) and the International Water Association's (IWA's) Water 21 (6 issues per year) In addition, a sustaining member is guaranteed opportunity to exhibit at the CAWQ's annual Central Symposium.
University/Government/Non-governmental/Society Members - Public, non-profit organizations, including professional societies and community groups are invited to join CAWQ to further its important mission. Members receive WQRJC (4 issues per year) and International Water Association's Water 21 (6 issues per year).
Honorary Members - Any two members in good standing may propose for honorary membership any individual who they consider has made outstanding contributions to research on water issues and to the furtherance of the objectives of CAWQ. If the nomination is accepted by the Executive Committee, honorary membership shall be conferred.
Joint Membership - Members of CAWQ in good standing shall have the opportunity to become joint members in the International Water Association (IWA). The joint membership fees represent a saving of 25% over membership of CAWQ and IWA purchased separately. Joint members have the option of receiving a printed copy of the Water Quality Research Journal of Canada (4 issues per year) and IWA's Water 21 (6 issues per year) or online access to WQRJC and Water 21 at a reduced rate. Every joint CAWQ/IWA member can join an unlimited number of IWA specialist groups. Joint members may also subscribe to the many IWA journals on water issues at reduced subscription rates and purchase other IWA monographs and publications at reduced rates.
