The 2025 Atlantic Symposium of CAWQ (PEOPLE 2025 International Conference)<\/strong>, jointly organized with PEOPLE Network, was held July 21\u201325, 2025, in St. John\u2019s, Newfoundland and Labrador. The event gathered more than 160 participants from over 10 countries<\/strong>, including researchers, industry experts, policymakers, and community leaders dedicated to advancing environmental sustainability.<\/p>\n

    A special panel discussion<\/strong> on environmental challenges<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

    Workshops and training sessions<\/strong> to foster skills and collaboration<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

  • \n

    An engaging HQP Social Night<\/strong> for students, early-career researchers, and professionals<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

  • \n

    A celebratory conference banquet<\/strong>, where CAWQ proudly presented the Philip H. Jones Awards<\/strong> alongside other recognitions<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    The event offered a dynamic platform for knowledge exchange, networking, and technology transfer, in alignment with CAWQ\u2019s mission to promote water quality research and collaboration.<\/p>\n

    Celebrating the Philip H. Jones Award Winners<\/h3>\n

    The 2025 CAWQ Atlantic Symposium Philip H. Jones Award<\/strong> recognized outstanding student contributions in water research:<\/p>\n

    • First Place<\/strong> \u2013 Zhonghao Zhang, University of Victoria<\/em>
      “Quantifying Uncertainty in Urban Hydrological Models and Exploring AI-Based Prediction: A Case Study in the Saanich Area”<\/em><\/li>\n
    • Second Place<\/strong> \u2013 Hao Wu, Memorial University<\/em>
      “Harnessing Marine Microalgae for Carbon Capture and Biomass Production under Naphthalene and Bicarbonate Stress”<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

      CAWQ congratulates both winners on their outstanding achievements and contributions to advancing water quality research.<\/p>\n
