The PEOPLE 2025 International Conference, jointly organized with the 2025 Atlantic Symposium of the Canadian Association on Water Quality (CAWQ), will be held from July 21 to 25, 2025, in St. John’s, Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada.

This international event will provide a platform for researchers, professionals, and stakeholders from diverse disciplines—including natural sciences, engineering, health, social sciences, and humanities—to exchange knowledge and explore innovative strategies for addressing environmental challenges under the pressures of climate change. The conference will highlight advancements in scientific research, technology development, environmental policies, and sustainable practices across ecosystems and sectors.

Hosted by the Global Network on Persistent, Emerging, and Organic Pollution in the Environment (PEOPLE Network), the conference reflects a strong commitment to interdisciplinary collaboration and capacity building. The PEOPLE Network includes over 600 members from more than 40 institutions and 50 partner organizations worldwide. With support from the NSERC CREATE program, the Network has trained over 100 emerging researchers and professionals in environmental fields.

Conference activities will include keynote presentations, technical sessions, pre-conference workshops, student competitions, and guided field trips. Selected abstracts will be invited for publication in special issues of partner journals.
